Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What does KII mean?
A. KII stands for Kroeker Innovations Inc., a construction company serving Winnipeg and surrounding areas since 2010. While we do a variety of renovations, my grandfather was a painter, my father has over 4 decades of experience painting, and I am a 3rd generation painter.

Q. Why would I pay for a professional painter instead of buying a $20 brush and roller kit from the local hardware store?
A. Some people love painting, and if that is you, then go for it! A big part of a professional paint job is preparation. We patch dents and holes on renos (and new homes if required), fill nail holes, and carefully trim, tape and poly to make sure that the walls and woodwork look unblemished and have clean, straight lines. We also are concerned with texture - a professionally painted wall should be sanded so that it doesn't just look like a smooth, lightly pebbled "orange peel" finish that is easier to repair, but also feels smooth to the hand. We typically spend approximately half our time on non-painting work to prepare the job for a professional finish.

Q. What is the best paint to use?
A. One paragraph won't answer this one, other than to say that it depends. However, what we look for is workability, durability, and cleanability. Less expensive paints tend to be easier to work with, but don't perform as well once they are dry. More expensive paints tend to be more mold resistant, clean easier, and not show scuffs as easily from cleaning and touching the walls.
